MagSafe Charging Stand

Screenshot of the Elko Garage’s Instagram post about my project.

This phone stand was designed to perfectly incorporate a MagSafe¹ charger, allowing my iPhone 13 mini² to be propped up at an angle, in any orientation, using only the magnets in the charger. The stand has four feet to prevent slipping (made of hot glue), a precisely sized cable cutout, and a shape with a carefully designed center of mass for proper balance.

I designed this stand using SolidWorks and 3D printed³ it at the University of Elko Engineering Garage.

My design is featured on the University of Alberta’s Elko Engineering Garage “Garage Makes” page.

¹ The charging stand that I made is designed for the 1st generation MagSafe charger. However, 3D files for both the 1st and 2nd generation MagSafe chargers are available.

² This charging stand is only compatible with the following iPhone models: iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 13 mini.

³ Depending on the 3D printer and print settings used, the MagSafe charger may not fit as intended (fixed transition fit).
